Playheads should support velocity and spin
Reported by Matt | December 12th, 2008 @ 11:54 PM | in 1.2.0 ("Bourbon")
Pretty woolly concept at this point but there may be merit in being able to change the velocity of a playhead which is, at the moment, fixed to 1 cell per beat. For example a generator might create a playhead with a velocity of 2 which would skip every other cell.
We can imagine other velocities (e.g. a velocity of 0.5 ... spend 2 beats on each cell?) and acceleration/deceleration options. Does any of this make sense?
We can also imagine that a playhead could be given "spin" which would mean that it would no longer have a linear path and would "curve" across the layer. This may be confusing and overlap with rebounds.
This whole concept is at risk of making the playhead too active a participant in the whole thing. Not sure.

Elysium is a generative music application inspired by the mighty reacTogon (by Mark Burton) and brought to life by Matt Mower. It is written for Mac OS X in Objective-C using the excellent Cocoa application framework and uses CoreMIDI to drive any MIDI instrument to produce sound.
