Split notes

Reported by Matt | December 12th, 2008 @ 11:33 PM | in 1.0.0 ("Caramel Hobknob")

Currently a note plays with a specific duration that is unrelated to the current tempo. It is possible to vary the duration between notes on the same or different layers but there is no connection to the tempo. This can be valuable (for example playing pads on a particular layer).

However it should also be possible to set the note to play the length of one beat and then subdivide it into segments: e.g. note, half-note, quarter-note, eighth-note, or 16th-note and specify which segments should play. For example dividing into eighth-notes you might specify a pattern: x-x--x-x. Alternative a triplet could be specified as x-x-x.

The net effect is to turn each "note" into it's own probabilistic mini-step sequencer.

Elysium is a generative music application inspired by the mighty reacTogon (by Mark Burton) and brought to life by Matt Mower. It is written for Mac OS X in Objective-C using the excellent Cocoa application framework and uses CoreMIDI to drive any MIDI instrument to produce sound.
